How alike they look
Line segments are much longer than the points, and no segment has its endpoints drawn. New version prints a fresh set at the same level.
How many figures

A point and a line segment
A point marks an exact location and has no length. A line segment is the straight figure between two endpoints, so it does have length. That single difference, length or no length, is the whole judgement on this sheet, and it is the first thing a child needs before anything else in geometry makes sense.
The dot is not the point
We draw a point as a dot because a location with no size cannot be seen. The dot is a drawing of the point, not the point itself, and that is worth saying out loud early. It is also why the hardest level on this sheet draws the endpoints of the segments: the endpoints are points, and the straight figure between them is still a segment.
Why the levels get harder
Each level takes away a shortcut rather than changing the question. On the first, the segments are much longer than the points, so size alone gives the answer. On the second, the segments are short and close to the size of a point, so the child has to look for length instead of size. On the third, the segments carry their endpoints as dots, so a dot on the page no longer tells you anything and only length decides.
Line segment, not line
The sheet says line segment every time, and never line. A line has no endpoints and does not stop, so it cannot be drawn in full; a segment stops at two endpoints, which is exactly why it can. Getting that word right at five costs nothing and saves an argument at nine. A segment is also named by its endpoints in either order: segment AB is the same segment as segment BA.
Where it fits
This comes before naming shapes rather than after, because sides and corners are made of segments and points. When the words are secure, move on to identify the shapes and sides and corners. For plain written practice at any level, you can make a worksheet in seconds.
