How it works
Each box holds a group of pictures and three numbers. The child counts the pictures, touching each one once, then colors the number that matches the count. The other two numbers stay white. There is one right answer in every box, and it is easy to check by counting again together.
Who it is for
This sheet suits roughly ages 4 to 6, from pre-K through the start of grade 1, with kindergarten in the middle. It practices two early skills at once: counting a group one object at a time, and recognizing the numeral that stands for that amount. Start with the 1 to 5 sheet for a brand new counter, then move up to 1 to 10. Once a child reads a group confidently, the next step is the opposite task: color the correct number of objects gives a number and asks the child to make a group that size.
